From The President:

Dear Potential CPR Member,

We have little choice when having to place our trust in doctors, nurses and hospitals. Tragically, far too often that trust is violated either through negligence, incompetence, bureaucracy or indifference. No one should have to suffer from "bad medicine" and bad hospital care. Yet, this is just what happens every day and many of our elected representatives are doing little or nothing to fix these problems.

Every year, thousands of Americans are injured and killed by medical negligence and most victims are never compensated. Yet, we hear many politicians and others repeatedly calling for "Tort Reform" rather than healthcare reform and insurance reform. Every year, millions of Americans are injured and killed by easily preventable hospital-acquired infections and little is being done to stop this scourge.

My name is Michael Bennett. In 2004, my blessed father died as a result of medical negligence and at least seven different strains of hospital-acquired bacteria. When my father passed on, I made a commitment to do everything in my power to rehabilitate a dysfunctional and incompetent healthcare system and to protect the rights of the victims of medical negligence. The Coalition for Patients’ Rights (CPR) is the peoples’ weapon in the fight for safe healthcare and accountability.

CPR will fight to make healthcare safe and our hospitals institutions of healing, rather than understaffed bureaucracies of incompetence and bacterial infection.

CPR will fight, through lobbying and public awareness, to protect and broaden the rights of the victims of negligence and malpractice.

CPR will inform you of important legislation and whether our elected representatives are or are not doing what needs to be done to fix healthcare and protect your rights.

CPR will join forces with the many good doctors and nurses who are often the frustrated, underpaid and overworked victims of a broken healthcare system.

I'm asking you to JOIN CPR for your own sake and for the sake of all of us. Please send in your membership application card today, so that we will have a strong voice in the upcoming Maryland General Assembly. Together, we can become the overwhelming force that will save lives and make our healthcare system what it once was and what it absolutely can be again.

Sincerely,

Michael Bennett
President, CPR
